Steward Health Care Compliance Program
The health care industry is one of the most highly regulated in the nation. Health care providers must comply with a multitude of requirements, from how they submit bills to how they sterilize equipment; from whether and how they encrypt sensitive data to whether and how they accept donations from vendors; from how they provide a safe workplace to how they minimize any negative impact on the environment.
Ultimately, the responsibility for complying with all these requirements lies with each individual employee of the health care entity. At Steward Health Care, it is the responsibility of the Compliance Department to ensure that all employees —from executive leadership to part-time student interns— understand how these many laws and regulations affect their day-to-day activities, and to provide a friendly and accessible way for any employee to ask questions about their compliance responsibilities and to report any concerns.
The most important resource is the Steward Employee Code of Conduct.
Also available is the Steward Health Care Notice of Privacy Practices for our patients which explains how Steward uses and shares patient health information.
